I wish to be both.
So are you a Dreamer or Doer? Congratulation if you are both. Yesterday, I bought my new issue of Asia Spa Magazine and I realised that I just read something that I usually ignore or dare not to tell myself. Is like looking yourself in the mirror and face the fact that I need to be real, positive, learn to take risk and accept changes, out of the comfort zone, etc. I realised that I am a dreamer most of the time and it seems like I wish to achieve more but .... I have to to be both!!!

Names??? Positions??? Titles???
I came across this very interesting classified that really strike my attention. How amazingly creative our positions can be called. Presenters aka Receptionist, Pressure Artists aka Masseuse. Don't you think that sound so trendy?. Maybe we should have more names for various occupations so that they look more attractive and interesting. Should we call a nurse as "Medical Angel", taxi driver as "Personal Public Chauffeur", gardener as "Plants Beautician" etc.. Can you help me to name more?

Corporate Therapy (Office Massage)
In this part of the world it is still relatively new and unknown. Basically, the idea is to provide a small corner or room in the office for massages (with bed or chair). Regardless is for an hour on a massage bed or a few minutes of quick fix on a massage chair, corporate therapy is definitely making everybody happy in the office. Strangely to say, Singapore as a well established business hub internationally, such office wellness trend is still pretty alienated. I believed due to the office culture here as most bosses still couldn't agree the need of having massages in the office. We like to draw a clear line between where to relax and where to seriously make money. Unlike western office culture, many organisations there have already having such benefit for their staffs. One of the reason is they have noticed that there are better ways of using their company welfare fund and one of them is to support their physical and mental needs of the staffs well being. There are research show that organisations who cater such activity in the office help to reduce number of medical leaves, increase productivity and efficiency, staffs feel protected and happy that management do concern about their health and naturally level of integrity and loyalty increases. I remember my first corporate therapy project was with a marketing company in 2007 and till now I'm still weekly engage by some foreign organisations in Singapore. Even though I don't get the chance to work in a office environment, I am proud to have a position in the office called "Mr Battery Charger".

Paper Underwear
Paper underwear or also known as disposable underwear has never fail to make me laugh my heart out. Maybe i shall share this tiny incident that happened a few years back when i was working as a Internal Spa Trainer in one of the local spa chains. One of the duty spa therapist came out from the treatment room giggling with teary eyes. Being a trainer, I reminded her to be professional at all times. She then pulled me to one quiet corner. While wiping her tears, she took one deep breath and started whispering...'Kenny, I can't take it anymore! I have instructed my customer to put on the disposable underwear if needed.' She took another deep breath and said this 'She puts the disposable underwear over her head as if it was a shower cap!' . That was it! I lost it completely. We both laughed uncontrollably.
In my opinion, disposable underwear is definitely not the most comfortable underwear. But hey, it does what it supposed to, to cover our exquisite 'jewels' right? Then again, it depends on individual preferences. But I will say this, massage is simply a pure indulgence. Why not be a little braver, loosen up and enjoy the process? Remember you are here to de-stress!
My advice for the 'extremely shy' first timer (and you know who you are)
1. go back to the same therapist for a while before you explore other new therapists.
2. try fully clothed massages
3. Keep telling yourself ('nobody is judging me. nobody is judging me. I am beautiful. I am beautiful.)
4. Try to sleep.
Most of the spas do provide professional drapping techniques (covered with towels) .
So don't worry, just relax and enjoy........Let's go green, ok!
